Before the pickup day
Confirm the meeting point, estimated pickup window and who can release the vehicle. Check gate hours, dealer release documents or auction requirements if someone else holds the car. Tell the provider about leaks, modifications, low clearance or a change in running condition.
Make the inspection easier
- Photograph the exterior and any existing marks in clear light.
- Record relevant accessories and loose or removable parts.
- Remove valuables and essential documents.
- Ask what belongings, if any, are permitted and whether they are covered; do not assume household items are allowed.
Follow the assigned carrier's instructions for fuel or battery level, alarms and keys. Do not use a general online checklist instead of the requirements accepted for your shipment.
At pickup and delivery
Review the condition record with the driver, retain a copy and note discrepancies through the agreed process. At delivery, inspect before completing the condition acknowledgement when possible. Ask the provider in advance how to report an issue and which paperwork is needed.
If the vehicle cannot start, roll, steer or brake as described, inform the provider before collection. See non-running transport.
