Start with the actual endpoints
“California” covers many different pickup situations. A dense city street, a suburban driveway, a dealership and a location away from a main transport corridor can require different coordination. Supply a city or ZIP at both ends rather than relying on a statewide average price.
Plan access before the truck arrives
Mention parking restrictions, low clearance at a building entrance, steep approaches, gates or limited turning room. If direct access is not suitable, discuss a nearby legal meeting point with the assigned carrier. Door-to-door service depends on safe access, not simply an address pin.
For a purchased vehicle, check the seller's release process, payment clearance and collection hours. A requested pickup date is only useful if the vehicle can actually be released then.
Match protection and loading needs
An everyday vehicle and a collectible may lead to different priorities. Compare open and enclosed options and disclose modifications, size and running condition. Ask for a specific loading assessment if the vehicle has a low front bumper or cannot move under its own power.
Separate pickup from transit
A long-distance move needs a pickup window and an estimated transit window, not one ambiguous delivery promise. Tell the provider about your real deadline and ask what happens if availability or travel conditions change.
